Ukraine Alert: Air raid sirens sounded in multiple regions, including Kyiv city, as of evening hours (local time) on July 1, as President Zelensky warned of impending major aerial attack; shelter in place
Current Situation
- Air raid sirens have been activated nationwide, including in Kyiv city, as of the evening hours (local time) on July 1.
- Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia was preparing a major aerial attack and stated that strikes could begin as early as July 2. He urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately respond to air raid alerts.
- No explosions or confirmed missile or drone impacts have been reported as of the time of writing.

Recommendations
- Those continuing to operate or reside in Ukraine on July 1 are advised to shelter in place due to the threat of airstrikes.
- If a designated shelter exists, immediately go there. If not, go to a room with as few external walls, windows, and openings as possible, close all openings, and sit on the floor below the window line and near an internal wall.
- In an open area, lay down on the ground and cover your head with your hands.
- When driving, safely pull over and follow the above instructions.
- Remain in position for at least ten minutes or until the sirens have stopped unless instructed otherwise, and stay away from any unidentified objects.
