Turkey Tactical: Flight operations to be disrupted at Istanbul International Airport, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport on February 19-21 due to expected snowfall; allot for disruptions
Current Situation:
- According to Turkish state media, flight cancellations are scheduled at Istanbul International Airport and Sabiha Gokcen International Airport due to forecasted snowfall from February 19 to 21.
- At Istanbul International Airport, flight operations will be reduced by 15 percent on February 19 and by 20 percent on February 20 and 21.
- At Sabiha Gokcen Airport, 10 percent of flights will be canceled on February 20 and 15 percent on February 21.
- As a result, Turkey’s flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, is expected to cancel approximately 150 flights on February 19 and around 200 on February 21 at Istanbul International Airport.
- Low-cost Turkish carriers Pegasus and AJet have also canceled 68 and 34 flights, respectively, as of the time of writing.
- Authorities will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed.
