Persian Gulf Alert (UPDATE): UKMTO reports third incident off coast of Oman during afternoon hours of April 18; continue avoiding all travel
Current Situation:
- Following the second attack against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) reported a third incident in the waterway during the afternoon hours (local time) of April 18.
- A cruise ship reported an unidentified splash in proximity to the vessel, approximately three nautical miles (six km) east of Oman’s Musandam area. No damage or injuries were reported as of the time of writing.

Recommendations:
- Those managing or operating vessels in the Persian Gulf are advised to avoid all travel through the Strait of Hormuz at the current time.
- Also, avoid travel through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea due to the heightened risk of Houthi attacks in these waterways.
- Take necessary precautions due to the elevated threats at sea.
- Remain apprised of UKMTO and US DOT Maritime Administration-issued notices, as well as being aware of NATO Shipping Center alerts.
- Remain cognizant of the threat and take precautions against plausible GNSS/GPS jamming and spoofing at sea.
