MENA Alert: Yemen-based Houthis sanction 13 US companies, including oil giants on September 30; Take precautions, avoid travel via Red Sea

  • On September 30, the Houthis-associated Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center (HOCC) sanctioned 13 US firms, nine company executives, and two commercial vessels.

  • The HOCC also sanctioned nine company executives linked to some of the mentioned firms.
  • The HOCC also designated the following vessels, which it stated are linked to Diamond S Shipping Inc.:
      • SEAWAYS SAN SABA; IMO:9593426; Flag: Marshall Islands.
      • SEAWAYS BRAZOS; IMO:9594731; Flag: Marshall Islands.
  • The HOCC did not explicitly specify whether or not the Houthis are intending to target ships associated with these firms.
