MENA Alert (UPDATE): Iran threatens to target multiple bridges, highways across Israel on April 3; take precautions

Current Situation:

  • According to a statement issued on April 3 by Iran’s semi-official news agency, Iran identified key bridges, highways, and rail arteries across Israel as “legitimate targets.”
    • Iranian forces identified two categories of targets, rail arteries and engineering bottlenecks, as well as critical road chokepoints.
    • Iran identified the Yarkon Bridge in Tel Aviv and the “Bazrail Tunnel” (likely a reference to the railway line connecting Haifa Port to Central Israel) as targets due to their alleged role in transporting military equipment, ammunition, and fuel.
    • Additionally, Iran identified the Haifa Port and the Rehovot Train Station for their alleged involvement in the distribution of cargo to war zones.
    • Iran also identified the Jebel Ali-Ashkelon route in Israel as a target, as the desert corridor is allegedly involved in fuel supply to the Israeli Air Force.
    • Additional highways threatened by Iran include Highway 6, Highway 1, Highway 2, Highway 4, and Highway 20.
