Libya Alert: UAV targets LPG facility on Tripoli’s Airport Road on September 3; avoid all travel
Current Situation:
- According to unconfirmed reports on September 3, a UAV targeted a warehouse along Tripoli’s Airport Road at approximately 06:30 (local time).
- The UAV was reportedly directed at liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage tanks at the facility but failed to strike the tanks.
- Footage reportedly shared from the location shows broken components of a quadcopter. Unconfirmed reports further claim that the UAV was a Ukrainian-origin First-Person View (FPV) UAV.
- No casualties or damage to the gas tanks were reported. The UAV’s origin, the party responsible for the incident, and the intended target remain unclear at the time of writing.
- Libyan authorities have not independently confirmed the incident as of writing.
