Jordan Tactical: Amman Marathon to be held during morning hours of October 17; allot for disruptions

Marathon-related Information
- The Amman Marathon, the annual flagship event of “Run Jordan,” draws thousands of participants annually from across Jordan and internationally.
- This year, the Amman Marathon will take place on October 17 and comprises multiple races including the 42.195 km Marathon (Individual and Relay), the 21 km Half-Marathon, and the 10 km Race.
- The 42.195 km Marathon (Individual and Relay) and the Half-Marathon (21 km) will start at 06:00 (local time) while the Wheelchair and visually impaired categories will begin at 05:50 near the Hashemite Plaza traffic light.
- The 10 km Race will start at 09:00, with the Wheelchair and Visually Impaired participants beginning at 08:50 near the Royal Cultural Center.
- The 42.195 km Marathon (Individual and Relay) and the Half-Marathon (21 km) will end at Hashemite Plaza (Roman Amphitheater).
- The 10 km Race begins at Queen Alia Street opposite the Royal Cultural Center and will finish at Hashemite Plaza. The entire course of the 10 km race can be found here in English and Arabic.
- The main gathering point for all races (42.195 km, 21 km, and 10 km) will be al-Hussein Sports City with a reporting time of 04:30 for all participants.
Road Closures
- The Jordanian Marathon Association, Run for Jordan, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate’s Traffic Department, has announced a series of traffic closures and diversions that will take place in Amman on October 17.
- Full and temporary closures will affect five major roads and several areas of Amman, including the new Raghadan Complex through al-Jaish Street, Hashemite Plaza, and Quraysh Street up to the al-Muhajireen intersection from 00:00 to 12:00.
- Additional closures will take place along Queen Alia Street (between Sports City and the Interior Roundabout), Queen Noor Street (between the Interior Roundabout and Fourth Circle), Uqba bin Nafi Street, and Princess Basma Street from 06:00-12:00.
- The Jordanian Marathon Association emphasized that the traffic plan is designed to ease movement across the city and provide alternative routes for motorists. The association added that Public Security officers will be stationed throughout the affected areas to assist and guide road users during the event.
