Jordan & Syria Tactical: Cross-border movement of vehicles on Amman-Damascus route resumes on January 9; remain cognizant of updates

Jordan’s Ministry of Interior announced that all Jordanian and Syrian transport vehicles will be permitted to resume operations along the Amman-Damascus road. It stated that concerned vehicles should pre-register on the electronic platform prepared for this purpose prior to travel. Syrian vans who had received approval to enter Jordan via this route prior to the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government will be permitted to enter Jordan till April 1 as long as they adhere to all guidelines and regulations. According to the statement, all vehicles are only permitted to transport passengers and are prohibited from carrying goods. The latest decision follows the Jordanian authorities’ announcement of the resumption of entry for Jordanian trucks into Syria via the Jaber/Naseeb Border Crossing on December 18.
