Israel Tactical: Authorities announce regulations, security arrangements for Yom Kippur on October 1-2; adhere to authorities’ instructions
Current Situation:
- The Jerusalem District Police have finalized preparations for Yom Kippur (October 1-2) as part of a comprehensive security plan.
- Security reinforcement will be deployed across Jerusalem, with a particular focus on the Old City and Western Wall, where large numbers of worshippers and visitors are expected.
- All entrances to the Old City will be completely closed to private vehicles and buses, with the public advised to use light rail services for access. Vehicle access to and from the Old City will be strictly regulated, with dedicated roads ensuring continuous access to major hospitals in the city.
- Several surrounding checkpoints will be closed, with exceptions made only for humanitarian cases.
- Checkpoints will be set up on major routes, including Haim Bar-Lev Street and Hebron Road, to restrict vehicle traffic from East Jerusalem neighborhoods into western parts of the city. Police units will also be deployed within neighborhoods to prevent potential clashes or acts of violence.
