• The Anti-imperialism and Anti-war Alliance, along with the Gonotantrik Odhikar Committee, a civic and human rights organization, are slated to hold a protest march from Mirpur 10 Metro Station to Pallabi in Dhaka from 16:30 (local time) on July 24. 
• The protest march will be held against the proposed Chittagong Port agreement with the US and the privatization of Bangladesh’s critical infrastructure.  

1. The slated protest march is expected to witness a turnout ranging in the mid-to-high dozens, based on the participation numbers observed at a similar protest in April. Participation is likely to be further bolstered if other organizations that oppose the deal with the US, like the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) or the Gonotantrik Juktafront, decide to join. Anticipating this, the authorities are likely to heighten security in the vicinity of the aforementioned locations, per standard security protocols. These measures are expected to include the deployment of police personnel and the placement of barricades to monitor the proceedings.

There remains a latent risk of scuffles between the police and protesters, especially if the latter are perceived to be engaging in disruptive tactics such as blocking major roads or entrance and exit points of the Mirpur metro station, vandalism of the surroundings, or breaching established security protocols. In such cases, the police are likely to employ crowd control measures such as temporary detentions, baton charges, or the forced removal of protesters from the location. Disruptions to travel are anticipated in the aforementioned locations and along the march route due to the anticipated turnout and associated security measures on July 24.
