MENA Tactical (UPDATE): Additional countries announce public holidays for Islamic New Year on June 26; allot for disruptions
Current Situation:
- Additional countries have declared public holidays to commemorate the Islamic New Year.
- Bahrain’s official news agency reported that all ministries and public institutions will suspend operations on June 26.
- The Benghazi-based Government of National Stability (GNS), which governs eastern and southern Libya, announced a suspension of operations across ministries, government agencies, and public institutions on the same date. The suspension does not apply to health services, security forces, or educational programs.
Recommendations:
- Those operating or residing in the Middle East and North Africa throughout the Islamic New Year period are advised to allot for disruptions to public sector services and to accommodate for additional time for travel, especially in the vicinity of places of worship.
- Remain cognizant of the level of adherence to the holiday and local customs and norms.
