Oman Tactical: Commercial vessel sinks southeast off Salalah during late morning hours on June 21; allot for disruptions; remain cognizant of authorities’ updates

Current Situation:

  • Oman’s Maritime Security Center (MSC) announced that a Comoros-flagged commercial vessel capsized 20 nautical miles (approximately 37 km) southeast off Salahah during the late morning hours (local time) on June 21.
  • Per the authorities, the 20-member crew of the vessel was rescued by a nearby commercial vessel, Gulf Baraka.

  1. Those operating vessels near Oman’s Salahah during the late morning hours on June 21 are advised to allot for disruptions to navigation due to the latest incident.  
  2. Remain cognizant of authorities’ updates due to the incident and ongoing emergency response operations in the area.
