New Zealand Tactical: Maori New Year celebration events slated in Wellington between 18:00-21:00 (local time) on June 19-22; allot for disruptions

- Matariki Puanga, also known as New Year for the indigenous Maori community, will be celebrated nationwide, including in Wellington, on June 19-22.
- In Wellington, the New Year celebration events will be held near the Wellington Waterfront and Whairepo Lagoon from 18:00-21:00 (local time) on June 19-22
- The ceremony will begin at Barnett Street at 19:40 and will move along Te Papa Tongarewa Museum towards Whairepo Lagoon.
- Per reports, an official holiday is declared as part of celebrations in New Zealand on June 20.
- While no traffic advisory is issued as of writing, the New Zealand Police have urged people to exercise caution and warned of “zero tolerance for unsafe driving” over the duration of the celebrations.
