Turkey Tactical: Bosphorus Strait closed to traffic in both directions during the morning hours of May 29; allot for disruptions, remain cognizant of updates
Current Situation:
- Turkish state media reports indicate that Istanbul’s Bosphorus Strait has been closed off in both directions as of the morning hours (local time) of May 29 due to the passage of the floating natural gas production platform (FPU) Osman Gazi.
- The platform will traverse the strait in 11 hours en route to the Black Sea, where it will operate for 20 years.
- The floating platform, expected to become operational by mid-2026, is projected to double natural gas production in the Black Sea by 20 million cubic meters per day.
