UAE Alert: Iran warns of imminent strikes against UAE ports on March 14; avoid all travel to the vicinity of ports, military bases

Current Situation:

  • On March 14, the Iranian Armed Forces threatened to carry out imminent strikes against ports, docks, and US military bases in the UAE in response to the US’s strikes against military facilities on Abu Musa Island. 
  • Iran has reportedly issued evacuation warnings for residents near Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port, Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port, and Fujairah Port.

Recommendations:

  1. Those remaining in the UAE are advised to avoid all travel to the vicinity of ports and military bases due to the high risk of strikes against such facilities in the coming days. 
  2. Implement a shelter in place procedure in these countries and adhere to authorities’ instructions, which may come on extremely short notice.  
  3. Update and implement business contingency plans (BCPs) and security protocols across the MENA region to ensure business continuity in the escalation scenario. Conduct arena-specific risk assessments.
